  • How Green is Courthouse Square?

Posted on May 10, 2012 by in Uncategorized

Information on reducing Courthouse Square’s ecological footprint and helping the Chesapeake Bay can be found here.  Check back often for more great resources.  If you are interested in serving on a possible CSQ Green Committee, please tell a board member!

    RECYCLING

Courthouse Square HOA dues include recycling service every other Thursday morning.  Recyclables include glass, steel, aluminum, paper (phone books, newspaper, junk mail, cardboard, etc.) and plastics (“triangle codes” 1-7).

    WILDLIFE and BAYSCAPING

Planting native flowers, grasses, shrubs, and trees requires less watering and fertilizer than their non-native counterparts.  Natives also help feed and shelter more of the local wildlife, including dozens of local bird species:  cardinals, bluebirds, blue jays, Carolina chickadees, Carolina wrens, three species of woodpeckers, pine warblers, and house finches to name a few.
